TermsConditions

Last updated: March 18, 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the Chartered Mediator Registry website (“the Registry,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) and the services we provide, including credential verification, application processing, and the publication of the public directory. By accessing this website or participating in the credentialing process, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should discontinue use of the site and refrain from submitting applications or information.

The Registry exists to maintain a trustworthy, transparent system for identifying qualified mediators. These Terms are designed to protect the integrity of that system, ensure fair use of the information we publish, and clarify the responsibilities of both the Registry and its users.

2. Purpose of the Website

The Registry’s website serves several interconnected purposes. It provides information about credentialing standards, allows applicants to submit materials for review, enables credentialed mediators to maintain their records, and offers a public directory that allows courts, agencies, and members of the public to verify a mediator’s credential status.

The website is not intended to provide legal advice, mediation services, or professional referrals. The Chartered Professional Mediator (ChPM) credential does not endorse or recommend individual mediators; it simply verifies whether a mediator has met the standards required for a particular credential.

3. Eligibility to Use the Website

The website is intended for adults engaged in professional mediation or individuals seeking to verify a mediator’s credential status. By using the site, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and that you will use the information provided in a lawful and responsible manner.

4. Accuracy of Information

Applicants and credentialed mediators are responsible for ensuring that all information they submit is accurate, complete, and up to date. The Registry relies on the accuracy of submitted information to evaluate applications, maintain records, and present reliable directory listings.

If the Registry discovers that information has been falsified, omitted, or misrepresented, it may deny an application, revoke a credential, or take other actions consistent with its standards and disciplinary processes.

The Registry strives to maintain accurate directory information, but it cannot guarantee that all information is error‑free at all times. Users who identify potential inaccuracies are encouraged to notify us promptly.

5. Use of the Public Directory

The public directory exists to provide transparent, trustworthy verification of mediator credentials. Users may view directory information for personal, professional, or institutional purposes, but they may not use the directory for commercial solicitation, data harvesting, automated scraping, or any activity that undermines the privacy or professional dignity of the individuals listed.

Directory information may not be republished, reproduced, or incorporated into other databases without the Registry’s written permission. The Registry reserves the right to restrict or block access to the directory for individuals or organizations that misuse it.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the Registry’s website—including text, design, logos, graphics, and other materials—is the property of the Registry unless otherwise noted. Users may view and print content for personal or professional reference, but they may not modify, distribute, or reproduce content for commercial purposes without prior written consent.

7. User Accounts and Security

Some portions of the website may require users to create an account or log in. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for any activity that occurs under their account.

If you believe your account has been compromised, you must notify the Registry promptly. The Registry reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that appear to be misused or compromised.

8. Payments and Refunds

Application and renewal fees are processed through secure third‑party payment providers. By submitting payment, you authorize the Registry to process the transaction through its designated provider.

Fees are generally non‑refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise. Because credentialing involves administrative review and recordkeeping, the Registry cannot guarantee refunds once an application has been submitted.

9. Suspension or Revocation of Credentials

The Registry may suspend or revoke a credential if a mediator fails to meet renewal requirements, provides false information, violates ethical standards, or engages in conduct inconsistent with the expectations of the credential.

If a credential is suspended or revoked, the public directory will reflect the updated status. This transparency is essential to maintaining public trust in the credentialing system.

10. Website Availability

The Registry strives to maintain continuous access to the website, but uninterrupted service cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control may temporarily affect availability. The Registry is not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from such interruptions.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Registry provides the website and directory “as is,” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the website will be error‑free, secure, or free from interruptions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Registry is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the website, reliance on directory information, or inability to access services. Users assume responsibility for evaluating the accuracy and appropriateness of information for their specific needs.

12. Third‑Party Links

The website may contain links to external sites. These links are provided for convenience only. The Registry does not control and is not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of external websites.

13. Changes to These Terms

The Registry may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in practices, legal requirements, or organizational needs. The “Last updated” date indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Registry operates, without regard to conflict‑of‑law principles. Any disputes arising from the use of the website or the interpretation of these Terms shall be resolved in accordance with those laws.
